What kind of device is a 4-port 2.5G optical port integrated access platform?
A 4-port 2.5G optical port integrated access platform is a device that multiplexes three types of services — E1, Ethernet and narrowband PCM — onto a pair of 2.5G optical fibers for transmission. Model IDM OMP3500 is based on PDH, Ethernet and PCM technologies, and its technical specifications comply with international standards and recommendations such as ITU-T G.703 and IEEE 802.3. The 2.5G optical bandwidth simultaneously carries 2 groups of gigabit Ethernet, 4 groups of Fast Ethernet, 16 groups of transparent E1 and 30 channels of narrowband PCM services; the 16 groups of E1 are transmitted as-is by transparent transmission, and narrowband PCM services are accessed after time-slot non-blocking cross-connection between E1 and all subscriber interfaces. One device simultaneously provides voice, leased-line data and Ethernet interfaces, so an access point does not need to configure multiple single-service devices separately by service type, effectively simplifying the deployment structure. As an integrated service access device for multi-service scenarios, this platform has mature applications in government private network optical fiber communication solutions and military emergency communications vehicle solutions.
IDM OMP3500 adopts a 19-inch standard chassis, modular design and 3 service slots; the boards support hot swapping with power on. It uses large-scale ASIC chip design with high integration, and when site service types change, it can be adjusted simply by replacing boards; it supports multiple clock modes and can adapt to the clock requirements of different application environments. For power supply, it can simultaneously provide DC-48V direct current and AC220V alternating current dual power supply, and can operate by connecting to the existing power supply system of an equipment room or unattended site.
Knowledge block: how multi-service over a single fiber is achieved on a pair of 2.5G optical fibers
Multi-service over a single fiber means the 2.5G optical bandwidth is divided into multiple channels carrying different services, and the channels transmit independently without interfering with one another. IDM OMP3500 simultaneously carries 2 groups of physically isolated wire-speed gigabit Ethernet, 4 groups of physically isolated wire-speed 100M Ethernet, up to 16 groups of transparent E1 and 30 channels of narrowband PCM over a 2.5Gbps optical fiber; the 16 groups of E1 are transmitted as-is by transparent transmission, and narrowband PCM services undergo time-slot non-blocking cross-connection between E1 and all subscriber interfaces. IDM OMP3500 provides 4 SFP 2.5G optical ports, can form point-to-point, chain network, ring network or 1+1 protection networks, and provides 2 groups of 2.5G optical fiber mutual backup; when one optical fiber fails, services switch over to the other optical port.

How are 6 groups of physically isolated Ethernet and 16 groups of E1 accessed on the same device?
Physically isolated wire-speed Ethernet means that each Ethernet port group is completely isolated on the data plane and does not share bandwidth with others, and each port group forwards independently at the interface wire speed. The IDM OMP3500 provides 2 groups of gigabit plus 4 groups of Fast Ethernet, totaling 6 groups of physically isolated Ethernet, suitable for access points that simultaneously carry multiple independent networks such as the office network, video surveillance network, and production network. The standard protocol supports IEEE 802.3, and the operating mode supports full/half duplex adaptive. A traffic burst on one network will not squeeze the bandwidth of other networks, meeting the compliance requirements for secure isolation of multiple services.
The E1 side is transmitted as-is. The up to 16 groups of E1 on the IDM OMP3500 are transmitted in transparent transmission mode, with a physical interface of CC3-16 or CC3-8, a bit rate of 2.048Mbps, and line coding of HDB3, compliant with ITU-T G.703, with selectable 75 Ω/120 Ω impedance; time-slot non-blocking cross-connection is performed between E1 and all subscriber interfaces, and multiple clock modes are supported, facilitating interfacing with existing SPC exchanges and dispatching exchanges. Service boards are inserted into the 3 service slots and support hot swapping with power on, so capacity expansion or service card replacement does not affect the operation of other services on the unit.
How are 4-channel 2.5G optical port ring network protection and 80KM transmission configured?
The transmission distance is determined by the optical module selection. The IDM OMP3500 supports 20KM, 40KM, and 80KM single-mode SFP modules (multi-mode optional), with an optical rate of 2.5Gbps, wavelengths of 1310/1490/1550nm, transmit optical power of -1~-10dB, and receiver sensitivity better than -24dBm; applications of 40KM and above require selecting SFP modules based on the optical power budget and verifying the link with an optical power meter during acceptance.
The protection mode has two layers: the 4-channel 2.5G optical ports can form a ring network 1+1 protection network, and when one optical fiber fails, services are automatically switched to the protection channel, achieving 80KM transmission while ensuring line availability; on this basis, PCM services can also be configured as mutual backup between the optical fiber and the PCM services on the first group of E1, forming dual protection at the optical path layer and the service layer, suitable for private network scenarios with high line reliability requirements such as power dispatch data networks. The E1 services of remote stations can be aggregated to the E1 access card for termination, and telephone services are aggregated to the switching card, connecting to the upper-level SPC exchange through digital trunks via SS7, C7, or PRI; the SNMP Ethernet network management can incorporate site devices into the existing network management system for unified management. As a convergence of optical transmission equipment and optical multiplexing equipment, this platform can effectively support the stable operation of government private network optical fiber communication solutions and military emergency communications vehicle solutions.

Typical Application Scenarios
Electric Power and Energy Private Network: Access at Substations, Distribution Stations and Switching Stations
Substations, distribution stations, switching stations and the step-up stations of new energy stations simultaneously have three types of services: dispatch telephone, telecontrol data and video surveillance. As an integrated service access device, the IDM OMP3500 carries the three types of services out at once over a pair of 2.5G optical fibers: E1 transparent transmission carries the telecontrol and protection information channels, RS232/RS422/RS485 interface cards connect serial port telecontrol and monitoring data, FXS/FXO cards connect dispatch telephones and hotlines, and 6 groups of physically isolated Ethernet carry the video surveillance network, office network and production network respectively.
The networks do not preempt each other's bandwidth; ring network 1+1 protection together with dual 2.5G optical fiber mutual backup improves the line reliability of the dispatch data network; the -20℃~+50℃ operating temperature and dual power supply -48V are suitable for the operating conditions of unattended sites such as distribution rooms and switching stations.
Rail Transit and Expressway Electromechanical Systems: Stations, Toll Stations and Sites Along the Line
The access points of expressway and rail transit electromechanical systems are distributed along the line with large spacing, and the service types and quantities at toll stations, service areas, traction substations and stations vary. The IDM OMP3500 provides three grades of single-mode optical modules, 20KM/40KM/80KM, which can be selected according to station spacing, and supports chain network, ring network or 1+1 protection network networking.
With 4-channel 2.5G optical ports and mutual backup between optical fiber and E1, the impact of a single point of interruption on services along the line is controlled; the voice dispatching, surveillance video and leased-line data of sites along the line are terminated within the same device, and equipment room space and the number of devices are reduced at the same time.

Figure 5: IDM OMP3500 Integrated Service Access Platform - Cabinet Deployment and Networking Diagram for Sites Along the Line
Military, Government and Public Security Private Networks: Field, Duty and Field Site Access
The on-site equipment of military, government and public security field private networks is mainly magneto telephones, serial port telecontrol and video surveillance, and the power supply and environmental conditions are relatively harsh. The IDM OMP3500 uses magneto cards, serial port cards and isolated Ethernet to complete on-site access; the dual power supply -48V and wide-temperature design suit equipment rooms without air conditioning, and long-distance optical modules of 40KM and above cover the spacing of field sites.
Ring networks or 1+1 protection networks can be formed to improve survivability in field and duty environments; SNMP network management makes it easy for operators to remotely monitor device status at sites via the existing IP network, reducing field duty and inspection frequency.
