Difference Between PCM Equipment and SDH Equipment
PCM equipment and SDH equipment are two different types of equipment. PCM equipment is an integrated service access device, while SDH equipment is an optical transmission device. Below we will explain the concepts of both. Once you understand them, you will grasp the difference.
First, PCM stands for Pulse Code Modulation. Digital signals are generated by sampling, quantizing, and encoding continuously varying analog signals, and are called PCM (pulse code modulation).
This electrical digital signal is called a digital baseband signal, generated by a PCM electrical terminal. Today's digital transmission systems all adopt the Pulse-code modulation system. PCM was originally not used for transmitting computer data, but rather to enable a trunk line between switches to carry more than just a single telephone signal.
SDH optical transmission equipment is an integrated information transmission network that combines multiplexing, line transmission, and switching functions into one, and is operated by a unified network management system. SDH optical transmission equipment can greatly improve network resource utilization, reduce management and maintenance costs, and achieve flexible, reliable, and efficient network operation and maintenance. Therefore, SDH equipment is a hot topic in the development and application of transmission technology in the global information field, and has received widespread attention.
