Cloud Computing Brings Fundamental Changes to the Social Division of Labor

At the Global CIO Conference on November 1, Zhou Zixue, Chief Economist of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of the People's Republic of China, delivered a keynote speech, stating that the emergence of cloud computing has brought fundamental changes to the social division of labor and will drive the advancement of society as a whole.

Zhou Zixue stated that in recent years, traditional industries have faced technological innovation, integrated development, and industrial transformation. Global informatization is advancing toward deeper directions and levels, with informatization, intelligence, and green development becoming the mainstream of the industry.

Meanwhile, the information technology industry is also undergoing major transformations, with new technologies emerging continuously. Information technologies represented by the Internet and cloud computing have emerged, exerting a profound impact on the economy and culture.

Zhou Zixue also noted that China is accelerating its transformation and promoting the in-depth application of informatization, enabling it to play a greater role in the national economy. China's huge market demand potential, abundant capital, and sufficient education levels provide favorable conditions for the development of the information industry.

Zhou Zixue believes that the CIO is an important role in modern enterprises. CIOs integrate information business with enterprise operations and need to possess stronger capabilities through innovation and transformation. Moreover, the CIO's position is now more important and its role more prominent.

When discussing the development of the information industry and the impact of cloud computing on industry and society, Zhou Zixue stated that when the information industry was weak, it was an independent industry. However, when it develops and interacts with traditional industries, with mutual integration, fundamental changes will occur.

Now, the information industry is becoming increasingly complex. Enterprises face the situation where the information industry is difficult to learn and lacks the funds to build. Therefore, enterprises need to let the information industry handle it on its own, and enterprises only need to focus on their own business. This is a change in the social division of labor. In the future, what traditional industry CIOs need to do is to let information technology serve the development laws of traditional industries, so as to bring about a true social division of labor, reduce overall social costs, and improve society.
