Central Government Proposes Integrating Cable TV Networks to Form National Broadcasting Company
October 25 - The Decision of the CPC Central Committee on Deepening Cultural System Reform and Promoting the Great Development and Prosperity of Socialist Culture, adopted at the Sixth Plenary Session of the 17th CPC Central Committee, was released today. The Decision proposes strengthening international communication capacity building, building world-class media, and improving the originality rate, first-release rate, and coverage rate of news information.
The Decision states that to enhance the radiation and influence of advanced socialist culture, it is necessary to accelerate the construction of a modern communication system featuring advanced technology, fast transmission, and wide coverage.
The Decision states that efforts should be made to strengthen the development of party newspapers and periodicals, news agencies, radio and television stations, and major publishing houses, further improve the collection, editing, distribution, and broadcasting systems, accelerate digital transformation, and expand effective coverage.
The Decision also proposes establishing a unified, coordinated, safe, and reliable national emergency broadcasting system, improving the construction of the National Digital Library, integrating cable TV networks to form a national broadcasting and television network company, promoting the triple play of telecommunications networks, broadcasting networks, and the Internet, building a national new media integrated broadcasting and control platform, innovating business models, and leveraging the cultural dissemination role of various information network facilities to achieve interconnection and orderly operation.
