Ericsson recently signed two contracts with Antel, Uruguay's leading telecom operator, to provide Ericsson's microwave transmission MINI-LINK and optical network solutions, building a flexible, scalable, and cost-effective transmission network platform for fixed and mobile services.

With these solutions, Antel will be able to offer a wide range of services to consumers in Uruguay, meeting the network capacity demands driven by the growing number of users and the proliferation of new data services.

José Luis Saldías, CEO of Antel, stated: "We chose Ericsson because their microwave transmission and optical solutions effectively meet our needs to modernize the existing transmission network and can support the voice and data traffic required by our customers. These solutions are highly reliable and meet our stringent requirements."

Luis López, General Manager of Ericsson Uruguay, stated: "This new agreement elevates our partnership with Antel in Uruguay to a new level, further consolidating our position as the leading provider of microwave and optical transmission solutions in Uruguay."

The agreement includes the provision of MINI-LINK TN, Marconi OMS 1600, and Marconi OMS 1200. These products support optimization across the network and at sites, making the transmission network more cost-effective. The agreement also includes a full range of services such as installation, integration, and hardware support.
