Five Major Fault Solutions for Video Optical Terminals
When a video optical terminal malfunctions, it is essential to troubleshoot the issue immediately to ensure normal operation, which is critical for signal transmission. Although optical terminal faults vary widely, they all share common principles. This article summarizes solutions to five common faults in video optical terminals for industry peers' reference.
I. Ethernet Connection Failure on Optical Terminal
(1) The optical terminal is a DTE device. When connecting to a computer, a crossover cable is required; when connecting to a HUB or switch, either a straight-through or crossover cable works.
(2) Confirm that the IP addresses of the connected computers are on the same subnet.
(3) Use the command c:\>ping IP address -t to check connectivity.
II. Video Signal Failure
(1) Check whether the link indicator (SYNC) is normal. If not, refer to link fault troubleshooting.
(2) Check whether the transmitter's video indicator is lit. If not, verify whether the camera has output. If another properly functioning optical terminal is available, cross-test the video. If the indicator still does not light, contact the sales representative.

III. Data Not Under Control
(1) Confirm that the data code and baud rate of the matrix or DVR match those of the decoder.
(2) Refer to the optical terminal manual to confirm the correct data interface.

(4) If data remains uncontrolled after steps 1-3, use a multimeter to measure the voltage between the two data lines. When not in control, the voltage is constant (the value varies depending on the decoder). When in control, the voltage between the data lines should fluctuate between 0-5V.
IV. Pan-Tilt Auto-Rotation or Random Rotation
(1) Auto-rotation or random rotation of the pan-tilt is generally caused by the following four reasons:

(3) Excessive optical attenuation causing data bit errors.
(4) A single data source connected to too many optical terminals, resulting in excessive load and insufficient drive capability.
(5) Data module damage in the optical terminal.
V. Audio Failure
(1) Confirm that the audio source connected to the optical terminal operates normally.
(2) Confirm that the output voltage of the audio source is within 3V.
(3) Check the audio wiring according to the manual.
(4) Connect a small speaker to the audio output to test whether audio operation is normal.
