Pros and Cons of Video Optical Terminal Transmission

1. Point-to-point transmission mode of video optical terminals

This mode is relatively common. The principle is to place a transmitting optical terminal at the acquisition front end and a receiving optical terminal at the central end. The function of the transmitting optical terminal is to convert analog video signals into optical signals through encoding and transmit them via optical fiber; the function of the receiving optical terminal is to decode the received optical signals and restore them to analog video signals. The transmitter and receiver are connected by optical cable.

Advantages: Non-compressed digital processing technology is adopted, video transmission is lossless, and transmission quality is high.

Disadvantages: Large occupation of optical fiber resources; each pair of optical terminals requires one optical fiber.

Applicable fields: Fields where optical fiber cabling is convenient and video quality requirements are strict, such as transportation, factories and mines, etc.

   Advantages: Save optical fiber resources and transmit large amounts of information.

   Disadvantages: Video is transmitted in compressed mode, image quality is poor, and full real-time transmission cannot be achieved.

   Applicable fields: Fields where cabling is inconvenient, such as large reservoirs and forests.
