TD-SCDMA Concept

TD-SCDMA is the abbreviation for Time Division-Synchronous Code Division Multiple Access (Time Division-Synchronous Code Division Multiple Access), a third-generation wireless communication technical standard and one of the three 3G standards approved by the ITU. Compared to the other two major 3G standards (CDMA2000) or (WCDMA), it started relatively late.

  TD-SCDMA, as China's proposed third-generation mobile communication standard (referred to as 3G), has undergone more than ten years since it was formally submitted to the ITU (International Telecommunication Union) in 1998, completing a series of international standardization efforts including expert group evaluation of the standard, ITU recognition and publication, integration with the 3GPP (Third Generation Partnership Project) system, and introduction of new technical features. As a result, the TD-SCDMA standard has become the first international wireless communication standard proposed by China, based primarily on China's intellectual property rights, and widely accepted and recognized internationally. This is an important milestone in China's telecommunications history. (Note: 3G has a total of 4 international standards; the other three are the US-led CDMA2000, WiMAX, and the Europe-led WCDMA.)
