Brief:In optical fiber communication systems, binary optical pulses "0" and "1" are transmitted through the fiber, generated by on-off modulation of the light source using binary digital signals. Digital signals are produced by sampling, quantizing, and encoding continuously varying analog signals.

PCM

  In optical fiber communication systems, binary optical pulses "0" and "1" are transmitted through the fiber, generated by on-off modulation of the light source using binary digital signals. Digital signals are produced by sampling, quantizing, and encoding continuously varying analog signals, which is referred to as PCM, i.e., Pulse Code Modulation. This electrical digital signal is called a digital baseband signal, generated by the PCM electrical terminal.

Features of PCM lines:

  •PCM lines can provide high bandwidth to meet users' large-volume data transmission requirements.

  •Support various rates starting from 2M, up to a maximum rate of 155M.

  •Network transmission is carried out via SDH equipment, with a simple line protocol.

Compared with traditional DDN technology, PCM has the following features:

  •Line usage costs are relatively lower.

  •Can provide larger bandwidth.

  •Rich interfaces facilitate users' connection to internal networks.

  •Can carry more data transmission services.
