Motorola and Ericsson Jointly Develop Public Safety Communication Equipment
September 8 news, according to foreign media reports, Motorola said on Tuesday local time that it will jointly develop public safety products with Ericsson using the latest wireless broadband technology.
Ericsson said the cooperation between the two companies will help Motorola develop public safety communication equipment used to wirelessly transmit video content from the field. The two parties did not disclose the terms of the cooperation agreement.
Two months ago, Motorola announced that it would sell its network equipment business unit to Nokia Siemens Networks. Motorola and Nokia Siemens Networks have been developing their own LTE (Long-Term Evolution) technologies, but so far, Ericsson has been the dominant player in the LTE field.
Motorola's public safety and enterprise equipment division will be separated from its mobile phone business unit early next year.
