Application Cases

The intelligent ventilation energy-saving system and heat exchange energy-saving system are suitable for tier-2 and tier-3 telecommunications equipment rooms of China Mobile, China Unicom, China Telecom, China Netcom, China Tietong, as well as other professional telecommunications equipment rooms. The greater the surplus capacity of the air conditioning system and the better the sealing performance of the equipment room, the higher the energy-saving rate of the system. Furthermore, the energy-saving ventilation system not only conserves energy but also utilizes its switching function to alternate air conditioning units, significantly extending their service life and reducing maintenance costs. It can also be integrated into the power and environment monitoring network, ensuring real-time monitoring of the air conditioning and ventilation units in the central equipment room, thereby enhancing the reliability and safety of equipment operation.

This system has been installed and tested at multiple pilot sites, featuring simple installation and construction, as well as high safety and reliability. For example, at mobile base stations in Northeast China: leveraging the region's long winter season, a local operator's equipment room installed the intelligent ventilation energy-saving system. During winter, outdoor cold air is used as the cooling source. When the outdoor air temperature drops below the indoor temperature by a certain margin, the system employs corresponding technical means to exchange heat between the outdoor fresh air and the indoor air, dissipating the heat from the equipment room and thereby lowering its temperature. This reduces the operating time of air conditioning units, achieving electricity savings. Compared with the same period last year, the system consumes only 30% of the original air conditioning power consumption, greatly reducing operation and maintenance costs while also saving a substantial amount on electricity bills.

At a China Unicom base station in a southern province: based on the region's climatic characteristics, the heat exchange energy-saving system delivers its powerful energy-saving performance from March to June and from October to November. When the outdoor temperature is below 26℃, the system can fully control the air conditioning system, halting its operation and maintaining the indoor temperature below 30℃. The system's energy consumption is only 1% to 5% of that of the air conditioning system, demonstrating remarkably significant energy-saving results. During the high-temperature period from July to September, the system can shut down the air conditioning units at night when the outdoor temperature drops below 28℃, thereby achieving energy savings and extending the service life of the air conditioners. According to statistics, the system can save 40% to 60% of the equipment room's air conditioning energy consumption on an annual basis.

Given the remarkable effectiveness of this energy-saving system, it breaks away from the traditional RS485/232 data transmission methods used in base station monitoring, utilizing the convenient and high-speed IP network for real-time transmission of collected data, offering significant advantages over existing energy-saving monitoring solutions. In addition, the system adopts a base station equipment room model-based control method, accurately and efficiently calculating the critical temperature and humidity thresholds for air conditioning start/stop, optimizing energy-saving control to the fullest extent, minimizing power consumption and maintenance costs, and enhancing the competitiveness of telecommunications enterprises. Therefore, based on the successful pilot trials, Beijing Raytrans Company will intensify its efforts to promote the system nationwide, particularly within the operation and maintenance systems of China Mobile and China Unicom, assisting operators in reducing maintenance costs, saving electricity, and increasing profitability.
