The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) released its key standardization priorities for 2011 on the 9th, proposing to strengthen research on standard strategies around the 12th Five-Year Plan outline and industrial development priorities, and accelerate the development and revision of standards in important fields such as the Internet of Things (IoT) and new energy vehicles, to support the stable and relatively fast development of the industrial and communications sectors.

MIIT stated that this year, targeting industrial development priorities, it will organize systematic pre-research on standards in important fields, accelerate the establishment of industry standards and key product technical standard systems conducive to the development of strategic emerging industries, strengthen the development and revision of standards in important fields such as the Internet of Things, energy-saving and new energy vehicles, triple play, and semiconductor lighting, and provide priority and preferential support in funding, planning arrangements, and approvals. Through pilot projects, it will explore comprehensive standardization working models, synchronously carry out standard development for all links in the industrial chain and various product categories, and achieve comprehensive coverage and coordination of standards in important fields.

For some standards urgently needed by industries, efforts to develop standards will be further intensified this year. MIIT stated that this year, focusing on key tasks such as technological transformation, independent innovation, energy conservation and emission reduction, elimination of outdated capacity, quality and branding, deep integration of informatization and industrialization, and cultivation and development of strategic emerging industries, it will organize the development of 3,000 standards, leveraging the guiding and regulating role of standards to meet industrial development needs.

To enhance the innovativeness of technical standards, MIIT proposed to intensify the development of technical standards incorporating innovative achievements, and promote positive interaction between standards, technological innovation, and intellectual property. It will strengthen the linkage between standardization work and major science and technology projects and industrial technology R&D, support enterprises with innovative achievements in jointly developing standards, actively promote proprietary intellectual property technologies to be elevated to technical standards, facilitate the transformation and application of independent innovation achievements, and drive industry technological progress.

Meanwhile, MIIT also proposed to increase efforts to adopt international standards, incorporating benchmarking requirements into the standard development and revision processes such as project approval and review and release, actively adopting international standards to accelerate alignment with international practices. On the other hand, it will intensify the overseas promotion of China's independent standards, promote proprietary technologies to become international standards, strengthen strategic research on international standardization, support enterprises in participating in international standard development simultaneously, enhance participation in the development of important international standards, and actively engage in international competition.Communication World Network
