A centerless ad-hoc network means terminals discover their neighbors and form a mesh network without relying on a server, base station or public network. After power-on, the IDM MCC580 portable multi-mode converged communication terminal performs automatic search for same-frequency terminals and establishes mesh links; any two terminals can reach each other, and voice, video and data are shared within the network. In the event of link interruption, services perform automatic rerouting through other nodes, and the network is self-organizing and self-healing. No infrastructure needs to be deployed in advance on site: once the terminals are in place, group audio and video communication can be enabled, making the device suitable for environments without public network coverage such as basements, mountainous areas and tunnels. The terminal can simultaneously access four types of links: terrestrial public networks, ad-hoc networks, private-network intercom and wired Ethernet, and performs automatic switchover to the backup link within 50 ms when the primary link fails.
