The standard configuration of the IDM-VDA2000 series 2-channel video optical multiplexer provides a transmission distance of 20 km, and a long-distance optical module can be fitted when a longer link is required. The transmit optical power at the transmitter is -12 to -7 dBm and the receiver sensitivity is better than -21 dBm; the difference between the two is the available optical power margin, used to compensate for the attenuation of the optical cable itself and the losses at splice points and connectors. During project selection, the optical power should be calculated segment by segment according to the actual optical cable length, the attenuation coefficient and the splice losses, with an aging and maintenance margin reserved. The optical port is the FC type (SC and other types can be customized); the optical fiber is single-mode by default with multimode optional, and the transmit and receive wavelengths are paired at 1310 nm and 1550 nm; because multimode and single-mode fibers have different attenuation characteristics, the distance must be determined only after they are matched with the optical module type.
