Solution Requirements

The communication system of this project consists of 1 central node and 24 sub-nodes. The engineering objective is to provide 100M Ethernet services and future expansion services such as E1 and telephone at each node.

The central node serves as the aggregation node, connecting to the carrier's Ethernet switch or router, leasing the carrier's Gigabit or 100M Ethernet service interfaces.

Each sub-node is networked in the form of an SDH ring or chain topology to achieve local Ethernet service access at each node.

The distribution of project nodes is shown in the figure below.

The figure above shows the actual distances between nodes, with the distances between several nodes described as follows:

The figure above shows the actual distances between nodes, with the distances between several nodes described as follows:

  1.    The distance between Node 3 and Node 4 is 40 km;

  2.    The distance between Node 8 and Node 9 is 40 km;

  3.    The distance between Node 12 and Node 13 is 20 km;

  4.    The distance between Node 17 and Node 22 is 20 km;

  5. The distance between Node 19 and Node 21 is 20 km.

The communication system is designed to consist of 4 ring networks and several link branches. The specific networking requirements are as follows:

  1.    Nodes 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5 form an SDH ring network;

  2.    Nodes 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, and 12 form an SDH ring network;

  3.    Nodes 14, 15, 16, 17, and 22 form an SDH ring network;

  4.    Nodes 18, 19, 20, and 21 form an SDH ring network;

  5.    Node 12 extends 1 optical branch to connect Node 13;

  6. Node 21 extends 2 optical branches to connect Nodes 23 and 24 respectively.

Solution Description

This system solution adopts MSTP multi-service optical transmission equipment for networking, with the central node as the core aggregation point. Each sub-node forms 4 STM-1 ring networks, while several nodes are accessed via optical link branches.

The central node is the aggregation node of this system, typically deployed in the central equipment room. It can access the carrier's leased Ethernet lines, E1 dedicated line interfaces, and telephone program-controlled switches. The central node uses our company's aggregation-type SDH optical transmission equipment MSAP-G3CP, which provides Gigabit/100M Ethernet interfaces, E1 interfaces, and telephone trunk interfaces (analog trunk or digital trunk). In this solution, only the Ethernet service function is currently used.

Application Example of SDH Optical Transmission Equipment Ring Network System Solution

Each sub-node is networked in a ring topology. The node distribution and equipment used are as follows:

  1.    Nodes 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5 form 1 STM-1 ring network, all using our company's access-type SDH optical transmission equipment MSTP155-16. This equipment forms a mutually backup loop through STM-1 optical interfaces. Each unit is equipped with 4 independent physically isolated 100M Ethernet interfaces by default and provides 3 service slots for expansion, which can accommodate Ethernet access boards, telephone access boards, and E1 access boards;

  2.    Nodes 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, and 12 form 1 STM-1 ring network. Among them, Nodes 6 and 12 use our company's aggregation-type SDH optical transmission equipment MSAP-G3CP. Node 6 connects upward to the central node equipment via an STM-4 optical line and downward forms an STM-1 ring network with Nodes 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, and 12 via STM-1 optical lines. Node 12 connects to Node 13 through an extended STM-1 optical branch. The remaining Nodes 7, 8, 9, 10, and 11 all use our company's access-type SDH optical transmission equipment MSTP155-16. Each node in this ring provides 4 independent physically isolated 100M Ethernet interfaces and also reserves idle service slots for expansion;

  3.    Nodes 14, 15, 16, 17, and 22 form 1 STM-1 ring network, all using our company's access-type SDH optical transmission equipment MSTP155-16. This equipment forms a mutually backup loop through STM-1 optical interfaces. Each unit is equipped with 4 independent physically isolated 100M Ethernet interfaces by default and provides 3 service slots for expansion, which can accommodate Ethernet access boards, telephone access boards, and E1 access boards;

  4.    Nodes 18, 19, 20, and 21 form an SDH ring network, constituting 1 STM-1 ring network. Among them, Node 21 uses our company's aggregation-type SDH optical transmission equipment MSAP-G3CP. While forming an STM-1 ring network with the access-type SDH optical transmission equipment MSTP155-16 at Nodes 18, 19, and 20, it also extends 2 STM-1 optical branches to connect Nodes 23 and 24. Each node in this ring provides 4 independent physically isolated 100M Ethernet interfaces and also reserves idle service slots for expansion;

  5. Nodes 13, 23, and 24 all use our company's access-type SDH optical transmission equipment MSTP155-16. Each node provides 4 independent physically isolated 100M Ethernet interfaces and also reserves idle service slots for expansion.
