IDM Radar Data Optical Transmission Solution
1 Overview
Synchronous serial transmission is increasingly used in air traffic control radar applications. Traditionally, PCM equipment is used to transmit 9600bps asynchronous serial data. Our company has long focused on military and civil aviation applications and has proposed a radar data optical transmission solution, providing multiple dedicated radar data interfaces for radar data transmission. This solution supports both synchronous and asynchronous serial transmission, with a maximum of 128kbps in synchronous mode and 38.4kbps in asynchronous mode.
2 System Design
This solution adopts the SDH optical transmission scheme, supporting point-to-point or point-to-multipoint networking. A typical point-to-multipoint networking topology is shown below.

Requirement Description:
(1). There are 2 remote radar data access sites, requiring 12 and 4 radar data channels respectively;
(2). The central site needs to provide 40 radar data interfaces, of which 16 correspond to the local termination of the two remote sites accessing the radar data servers, and the remaining 24 are reserved for future remote site access.
Solution Description:
(1) The remote radar optical transmission equipment adopts our MUX180 device, with a single unit supporting up to 68 radar data interfaces;
(2) The radar-side optical transmission equipment MUX180 uplinks to the central site via a 155M optical interface;
(3) The radar monitoring center aggregates the remote radar data interface services through the MUX180 device, terminating them into the radar monitoring servers;
(4) For scenarios with a small number of radars, point-to-point fiber interconnection can also be used for transmission. A typical application diagram is shown below.

4 Equipment Introduction
4.1 IDM MUX180 Integrated Optical-Electrical SDH Transmission Equipment (Access Type)
4.1.1 Overview
The IDM MUX180 integrated optical-electrical transmission equipment is a new-generation device launched by our company, based on MSTP and PCM technologies. It integrates MSTP transmission and PCM multi-service access functions into one unit, meeting the diverse fiber-optic transmission and access requirements of users for both broadband and narrowband services. With SDH ring network protection, it provides more reliable communication protection. The IDM MUX180 integrated unit can directly connect remote terminals such as telephones, computers, and cameras. At the remote end, it can also be extended via optical ports to connect PDH optical terminal units, optical modems, and multi-service optical terminal units, adapting to various network topologies.
